After reading “The Art of Maximizing Your Time”, I got a
feel of our own discrimination against each and one another. The discrimination I’m talking about is
traits that separate us from everyone else in the world as individuals. We all have our own unique traits, and ideas
of the world. Sometimes some people are
scared to express themselves, and show themselves to the world, and instead try
to bring the other person that’s not afraid to stand out, down.
Expressing yourself
is hard. Society says “Be Yourself”. But when you step out of their expectations
of “normal people”, they almost judge you like a horde of vicious wolves in a
pack. I tend to notice this happens in
school settings a lot.
I feel like some
people in school are confused, and self conflicted of who they are, and how
they stand in their “friends” eyes. As a
result, they bother anybody who is different from their protective bubble. The traits that are “Weird” in someone’s eyes
in school, is what is applauded in the adult world. Take Lady Gaga as an example.
Lady Gaga is a pop
Icon, and a cultural phenomenon in the entertainment industry, and society. When Lady Gaga was in school, she mentioned
how people didn’t understand her, and called her “Weird”, and a “Freak” because
she was different. Those “Weird” qualities
are what she is applauded for in the real world. Lady Gaga is now an award winning music
artist, because of her unique traits.
It’s ok to stand out.
The people that judge are just scared and insecure. They want to show the world who they are as
much as you do, but they just don’t know how.
In this world, there’s the pack of wolves, and then there is the lone
wolf.
Sometimes, some
people express themselves in a pack of wolves, and then sometimes the lone wolf
can express themselves alone with their inner qualities. This is human nature, and this will always
continue through century, to century.
